Many of the tutorials I create for you go through several phases to be perfected before I present them to you. Like many crafters we all have a stash of projects that we are working on. These are some of the upcoming tutorials to watch for!
Out with the old and in with the new... Spring is in the air and it's getting warmer outside which means we get to pull out our warm weather project bin! I am thinking outdoor pation redesign, a high fashion silk dupioni dress, and of course a give-away!
End of Summer… Health Kick
All of the traveling I have done this last month has been amazing, but it is so difficult to maintain a gym ritual and diet routines when you are at the mercy of a banquette or hotel. Needless to say, I came back from New York and Washington D.C. super tired…
I always try to be mindful of what I eat, being 5’ tall does not allow for an occasional splurge on my frame. Since the beginning of the summer I have lost almost 12 pounds, which is very exciting… (not to mention makes me want to do bold things in fashion with a canvas I can be proud of)… but I thought I would share a recent revelation (and invention… sort of) in my nutrition and healthy living.
I don’t know about you, but I do not eat enough dark green veggies. I love salad, but you can only do it every day for so long before you get sick of it. There is so many benefits to dark green veggies, including blood sugar health, brightening the whites of your eyes (according to askmen.com ) and more… so the challenge was to get more greens into my diet, that I would enjoy… without butter, or fat… so I came up with this. It has 210 calories, and is a perfect breakfast…
(Vitamin K also acts like a protein for your body)
½ cp. Organic Blueberries
½ Pink Lady Apple
½ cp. Strawberries
½ cup Organic Fat Free Vanilla Yogurt
1 tbsp. Flax Seeds
1 cup kale
1 cup mineral water (filtered water will work too!)
4 ice cubes
*Sometimes I add a ½ banana, or ½ cup of raspberries. If you run out of strawberries, this drink is still so good with only blueberries and kale! You won’t even taste it, but you get the full benefit of 4 fruit/veggie servings for the day, first thing in the morning. Enjoy!
If you're like me, you love the summer time. With the summer time comes cute pencil skirts and fabulous dresses... and of course... bathing suit season. Treat yourself, and your skin to a wonderfully moisturizing exfoliant that will help you shed the dead skin and reveal soft summer ready legs (and body) every time you shower!
To make this scrub you will need the following;
- 1 cup Organic Granulated Sugar
- Organic Lemon Grass Essential Oil
- A Base Oil such as Jojoba Oil, or Grapeseed Oil. Coconut Oil will work but it needs to be in liquid form (room tempurature)
(All of these options are very nourishing to skin. Whatever you do, do not use a mineral based oil so you don't clog pores!)
- Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder
- Mixing Bowl
- Jar with lid
1. Mix the sugar and oil together. Make sure you have about 1/4" more oil than sugar once mixed.
2. Add the Lemon Grass Essential Oil (5-10 drops! Easy does it! This stuff is potent)
3. Add the Organic Matcha Tea Powder. (5-10 packages depending on your preference)
The Organic Sugar is a natural and gentle exfoliant that will help to turn over cells revealing beautiful skin.
Lemon Grass Essential oil can be attributed to its properties like analgesic, anti depressant, anti microbial, anti pyretic, anti septic, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, deodorant, diuretic, febrifuge, fungicidal, galactogogue, insecticidal, nervine, sedative and tonic. See more information at Organic Facts.
Matcha Green Tea is known for it's high potency in antioxidants.

Use in the shower, and rinse with lukewarm water. Towel dry and enjoy soft, invigorated summer time skin!
